Sustainable Society Index

The third edition of the Sustainable Society Index, SSI-2010 was launched by the Sustainable Society Foundation. The SSI, based on 24 indicators, comprises the three well-being dimensions of sustainability: human, environmental and economic well-being. The SSI has been calculated, like the previous editions, for 151 countries. With this third edition (the previous ones were SSI-2006 and SSI-2008), cautious comparisons can be made over time. Collectively wealth has grown, but with little benefit to sustainability in general. The overall sustainability index increased slightly in the past four years from 5.8 to 5.9.
